The Book and the Rose (2001)

Сюжет кино: Utter schlock. This movie has just about ruined one of my favorite stories of all time.
This story was written in 1943 by authoress Sulamith Ish-kishor, an American author who had been born in London to Jewish literary parents. Her version was well written, beautiful and so touching that when I met my husband in person for the first time (we had met on line) I told him he would know me by the red flower I carried. Then years later on our wedding day, at the last minute I ditched the beautiful bouquet of white flowers he was expecting me to carry and quickly grabbed one single red flower to walk down the aisle towards him. He saw the flower and knew what it meant and tears filled his eyes.
In 1992 Max Lucado ripped off the story, never giving Ms Kishor the credit she deserved. This heinous movie has made things even worse for this story beloved by millions.
The film is an absolute wreck with its inaccurate period touches and inattention to detail. No woman in the 1940's would be caught dead with the hairstyle worn by the female lead. (Did you see the ends of her hair?!) The clothes weren't horrible though there were a few that were so blatantly "now" I couldn't even begin to suspend reality to pretend they were in a bookstore discussing an old book. And the dialogue was, again, so you get the point. Added to the fact that the main meeting place is to be in the famous 30th Street Train Station in Philadelphia, under a well known statue yet they chose to film in a tiny station which looks NOTHING like the well known ugh, I can't even finish a sentence it makes my head so crazy. Even the street numbers they got wrong, which would have taken all of 2 seconds of research to get right.
Mr/Ms Producer, I have no idea if your intention was to ruin a beloved short story, but if it was, job well done.
