Bottom Live: The Big Number 2 Tour (видео) (1995)

Сюжет кино: Format: DVD This is more like it! After the poor performance of "Guest House Paradiso" I was reluctant to watch any of the other Bottom spin-offs. However this shows a return to form for Richie and Eddie. In Act I they are preparing for a visit from the Queen - and in Act II they are suffering the consequences of a badly timed incident with a bottle of Iraqi toilet cleaner. Hence the prison outfits on the cover of the DVD.
It's Bottom writ large, essentially a two-hour long episode, but unlike the film, the audience laughter - and the way the two play along with their audience like in pantomime - gives it the momentum it needs. I always feel better when comedies have laughter tracks or are filmed in front of a live audience - the lack of this for me made "The Office" slightly less than classic, and it's a shame to see that more and more TV comedies are doing away with it as they strive to be ever more clever and thus lose the essential ingredient that makes Bottom so funny - its sheer simplicity, vulgarity gags.
Because it is live, the bloopers are woven into the plot, and Rik and Ade, like all good comedians, are able to cope very well when things go wrong. There are a couple of tense moments when the momentum slackens and neither can remember what's what, but the moment passes and the dubious duo rocket forward like there's no tomorrow.
Definitely a must for all Bottom fans.
